2017 China (Hunan) International Rail Transit Industry Expo & High-level Forum

    Jointly sponsored by the China Railway Society, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hunan Sub-council, the People’s Government of Changsha Municipality, and the People’s Government of Zhuzhou Municipality, the 2017 China (Hunan) International Rail Transit Industry Expo & High-level Forum was held in Hunan on October 24-27, 2017.

    Attendees included: leaders of relevant ministries, commissions, and departments, responsible persons of relevant international organizations and agencies, major leaders of Hunan Province and other relevant provinces (municipalities), foreign politicians, diplomatic envoys, and business delegations from nearly 30 countries, academicians, experts, scholars, and important industrial representatives.

    Covering an exhibition area of nearly 45 thousand m² and with “Rail Transit Changing the World” as the theme, the Expo existed as a platform for exhibitors to showcase their latest technologies, new products and results in rail transit. These exhibitors included: CRRC Group Co., Ltd. , CRSC Corp. Ltd., China Railway Construction Corp. Ltd., Deutsche Bah, RATP Dev Transdev, and other 187 home and abroad leading rail transit industries and relevant enterprises. Among them, 85.9% were home exhibitors. There were 27 overseas enterprises, accounting for 14.1% of the total. The Expo received 22 thousand visits of professionals of home and abroad rail transit industries and practitioners of other industries. Together they secured projects with cooperation intention valued at nearly RMB 100 million.

    During the event, 14 major activities, series of forums, academic exchanges, and business discussion activities were organized, including Keynote Speech Meeting on the Development of Rail Transit Industry, Talent Development Summit of Rail Transit Industry, the Development Report Conference of Rail Transit Industry, Urban Rail Transit Development Mode High-level Forum, “Belt and Road” Rail Transit International Cooperation Roundtable Conference (Changsha), Large-type Track Maintenance Machine Quality and Safety Seminar, and Rail Welding Technology Exchange Meeting. It has become an industrial event for exchanges, matchmaking, negotiation and cooperation for domestic and foreign rail transit industry.

    The Expo was highly amazing and presented a series of highlights. Leading enterprises of rail transit industry from home and abroad displayed the latest technologies, products and outcomes in global rail transit field, combing to show to the world the great achievements produced by rail transit sector. What is worth mentioning was the new “intelligent power five-module 100% low deck modern tramcar” developed by China Railway Signal & Communication Corporation Limited. It debuted at the opening ceremony of the Expo and became the most visible offering. Zhang Jianfei, then Vice Governor of Hunan Province, Mayor Chen Wenhao, and other leaders at present took a ride on the tramcar.

    The event was covered from different perspectives by nearly 40 mainstream media institutions (such as CCTV, Guangming Daily, China Daily, people.cn, Xinhuanet, and other media directly under the Central Government, and Hunan Daily, Hunan Satellite TV, and other media of provincial and municipal levels) and 10-plus industrial media agencies (such as People Rail Newspaper), generating extensive influence at home and abroad. The successful holding of the event is of far-reaching strategic significance, and has boosted the efforts of carrying out the five new development concepts, and strengthened consensus among the whole society. It has also showed to the world the impressive achievements of China in rail transit and high-speed railway, intensified exchange and cooperation across the whole industry, and boosted the development of China’s rail transit industry. It has also accelerated China’s rail transit sector to go global, propelled China’s equipment manufacturing to realize modernization and internationalization, reshaped the global image of “Made in China”, and revitalized national industries.
